Manchester United’s summer transfer window continues to heat up — both in terms of incomings and potential windfalls.

While Ruben Amorim looks to strengthen the current squad, the club is also watching former players closely, with several moves across Europe set to impact United’s coffers.

One name back in the headlines is Mason Greenwood, whose stellar season in France hasn’t gone unnoticed by the continent’s top clubs.

After being released by United, Mason Greenwood has revived his career with a superb campaign in Ligue 1, prompting interest from a host of clubs.

And this time, United could benefit handsomely without lifting a finger.

Greenwood, now 23, signed a five-year deal with Marseille last summer in a transfer worth up to £26.6 million — but crucially, United inserted a sell-on clause between 40 and 50% in the agreement.

That clause could now be activated, with reports in Italy — via Corriere dello Sport — claiming that Inter Milan have added Greenwood to their summer shopping list following his stunning return to form.

The former United forward bagged 22 goals in 36 appearances across all competitions in 2024/25, including 21 goals in Ligue 1, finishing joint-top scorer alongside Ousmane Dembele.

Marseille ended the season second behind PSG, and Mason Greenwood played a key role in that success, instantly becoming a fan favourite.

However, Marseille are unwilling to part with their star man easily.

Club sporting director Mehdi Benatia has firmly shut the door on a move — for now.

“Greenwood will stay with us.

“He is not for sale,” Benatia told 365Scores Arabia via the Metro.

“We want to keep him and consider him a key part of OM’s project for the upcoming season.”

Despite that stance, interest from clubs — including Inter and those from the Saudi Pro League — isn’t expected to fade any time soon.

If a deal does materialise, United could bank a major windfall, boosting Amorim’s budget without selling a single squad member.
