Manchester United have been extremely active in the summer transfer window after a nightmare campaign last season.

The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League, their worst finish in the history of the club.

Understandably, they have approached this window with urgency to rebuild the squad.

So far, United have signed Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo for a combined fee of £133.5 million including add-ons.

Despite these major additions, the club still has plenty of business left to conduct.

The focus is on signing a striker, a midfielder and a goalkeeper before the window closes.

Manchester United are in talks with RB Leipzig to sign Benjamin Sesko to lead the attack.

Reports also suggest the club are exploring goalkeeper options including Emiliano Martínez and Gianluigi Donnarumma.

The midfield position had seen very little speculation until now.

Now, according to David Bernabeu of SPORT, Manchester United have made direct move to sign Barcelona’s Fermín López.

The club are reportedly preparing a financial proposal exceeding €70 million (£61.1m).

Both Barcelona and the player’s representatives are aware of the interest.

No major progress has been made yet, but the report claims a transfer could materialise in the coming weeks.

The report claims, Hansi Flick and the Barcelona board are in consensus of Fermin’s departure if his sale brings a huge sum.

Manchester United’s interest has intensified in recent days.

It is understood Fermín fits the vision of manager Ruben Amorim.

The club even mentioned their interest during discussions related to the Marcus Rashford operation.

United are prepared to nearly double Fermín’s salary to convince him to make the move.

The midfielder has already rejected several Premier League offers.

He remains reluctant to leave Barcelona despite the financial package.

The report adds, negotiations could begin if the offer reaches close to €70 million.

Such a deal would allow Barcelona to solve immediate financial issues and operate under La Liga’s 1:1 rule.

It would also help them register all pending contract renewals and new signings.
