Manchester United are still trying to offload several of their outcasts this summer, with Alejandro Garnacho finding himself firmly on the list.
Despite his youth and talent, Garnacho’s ego has led to him being separated from Ruben Amorim’s squad, set to leave the club.
The Argentina international found his time at Old Trafford cut short after his frustrations got the better of him following the Europa League final loss to Tottenham Hotspur, when the winger came on in the 72nd minute despite playing well throughout the campaign.
Speaking to the press after the match, Garnacho questioned Amorim’s decision to leave him out of the starting line up, however these comments weren’t left unchecked.
In the subsequent training session, Amorim announced to the youngster in front of his teammates that he “better hope” a club buys him this summer, calling an end to his United career.
Since then, the winger has been participating in individual training at Carrington, alongside fellow “bomb squad” members Marcus Rashford, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia.
The winger was even given extended leave and been left out of the USA pre-season tour to prioritise a move away, with Garnacho adamant that he wants to remain in the Premier League next season.
Now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed his desired move, with the winger wanting to join Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side.
Chelsea have been monitoring the winger’s situation since the winter transfer window when they looked to seal his transfer in a player-swap move including Christopher Nkunku.
The move didn’t materialise, however Roman now explains that Garnacho was extremely keen to have moved to London in January, as a transfer to The Blues was his priority.
Now, Chelsea are once more looking at the 21-year-old, with a bid expected to come later on this month as Alejandro Garnacho holds out for a move to Stamford Bridge.
