Manchester United’s summer transfer window has been somewhat busy, with the club securing significant attacking reinforcements in Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
As Ruben Amorim shapes a side capable of competing at the highest level, the hunt for additional talent continues.
United have been linked to numerous players this summer, but most of the links are deemed to be mere rumours.
While United have shown interest in various young forwards, one player linked with the Red Devils has now taken a surprising step elsewhere.
Nottingham Forest officially confirmed, via the clubs website, the signing of Swiss international Dan Ndoye on a five-year deal, a development that could impact United’s attacking options.
Dan Ndoye, who previously starred for Bologna in Serie A, has been a target for several Premier League clubs, including Manchester United.
It was reported that United were monitoring Ndoye, and Joshua Zirkzee, now a United player, made contact with his former teammate but to no avail.
The 24-year-old Ndoye brings solid experience for his age, having played 75 times for Bologna since 2023 and impressing in the 2024/25 season with nine goals and six assists.
His crowning moment came in scoring the winner in the Coppa Italia final, securing the club’s first major trophy in over half a century.
Ndoye also featured prominently in Bologna’s Champions League campaign, participating in all eight matches.
Known for his creativity, versatility, and speed, the Swiss winger has developed steadily since emerging from the Lausanne-Sport academy and spells at Nice and Basel.
He has earned 22 caps for Switzerland, including a crucial goal in Euro 2024.
Ndoye expressed excitement at joining Nottingham Forest, praising the club’s ambition and history: “It is a really exciting time at Forest and I knew straight away that I wanted to be a part of the project.”
Forest’s Chief Football Officer Ross Wilson echoed that sentiment, welcoming a player who has been extensively scouted by the club.
For Manchester United, Ndoye’s decision to join Forest may close one avenue as they continue their summer recruitment drive, focusing instead on other targets to boost their squad depth.
