Mason Greenwood has quietly rebuilt his career with impressive consistency since leaving Manchester United.
Greenwood’s career at United came to an abrupt end under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the academy graduate sidelined from the first-team squad due to off-pitch circumstances.
Greenwood never returned to action for United following his suspension and instead left the club in 2024.
In the 2023/24 season, he joined Getafe on loan and racked up 10 goals and 6 assists across 36 appearances, adapting quickly to life in La Liga.
The following year saw another step forward as Greenwood signed for Marseille, where he thrived as a key attacking force in Ligue 1.
His 2024/25 campaign ended with 22 goals and 5 assists in 36 matches – making him one of the most prolific forwards in France.
Now, his form has unsurprisingly sparked interest on the global stage.
According to L’Equipe, several Saudi Arabian clubs have made Greenwood a summer target, with strong interest growing following his outstanding debut year in Ligue 1.
The 23-year-old finished the campaign as joint top scorer in the division alongside Ousmane Dembele, highlighting just how far his stock has risen.
Marseille would demand a significant offer to let him go, particularly after investing close to €30 million to sign him last summer.
No club have advanced in their pursuit for the winger, although Marseille are expected to face further contact from Saudi sides as the window continues.
His age, recent output, and Manchester United’s 50% sell-on clause all factor into a potential high valuation.
Greenwood, who now represents Jamaica at international level, is seen as a marquee signing by Saudi side – but Marseille will be reluctant sellers unless an extraordinary offer arrives.
There has been talk earlier this year of Greenwood insisting for a return to the Premier League.
He is said to be homesick, missing his family in England.
