As Manchester United undergo a huge rebuild under Ruben Amorim, midfield has become a priority position for this summer transfer window.
In Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, the double pivot is required to cover a lot of ground in midfield, often competing against three-man midfields, while also being proficient in building from the back and finding passes between the lines.
With Casemiro ageing and Manuel Ugarte struggling so far in the Premier League, a new number six has become an important area of recruitment for United.
One name that has been consistently linked with Amorim since his arrival from Sporting CP is former player Morten Hjulmand.
Hjulmand arrived at Sporting while Amorim was in charge, in a £15 million deal from Lecce, the same club United signed Patrick Dorgu from.
The Danish midfielder quickly became a key figure under Amorim, dominating the midfield with both his athleticism and ball-playing ability.

The Sun are now reporting that United are again interested in Hjulmand this summer, although rivals Manchester City may also be competing for the signing, making proceedings difficult.
Hjulmand is reported to have a £69 million release clause, which Sporting are unwilling to compromise on when discussing a deal for the midfielder.
Juventus previously submitted a bid for the Sporting man worth up to £35 million, but Sporting rejected the offer, demanding the full release clause.
For United to get their man, they will need to spend a huge amount of money, something they may not currently have, with sales likely needed before any major purchases.
United will continue to pursue other options while keeping tabs on Hjulmand, also focusing on a striker and a goalkeeper as they look to complete the squad for Ruben Amorim ahead of a huge season for the club.
