Manchester United and Brentford spent nearly two whole months negotiating over the Bee’s starman Bryan Mbeumo.
The main reason for the delay was more so due to Brentford’s constant changing of the price.
It took the Red Devils three bids to finally land Mbeumo, with their second offer of a £62.5 million total package being rejected.

Matheus Cunha, who was signed recently in the window, was also £62.5 million, with the Red Devils feeling that this was a fair price for Mbeumo.
Ruben Amorim’s side aren’t done with the summer window, with acquisitions expected both on and off the field.
And now the Red Devils are expected to pursue yet another figure from Brentford.
As per Steven Railston of the MEN, Manchester United are considering the appointment of Brentford academy director Stephen Torpey to succeed Nick Cox.
After nine years of service, Cox was reported last month to be leaving the academy to take a position as technical director at Everton.

During his nine and a half years at City, Torpey held a variety of roles, most notably collaborating closely with Jason Wilcox, the director of football at United.
Cox has been instrumental in United’s academy’s comeback during his tenure as manager, bringing in elite young players and leading the team to an FA Youth Cup victory in 2021–2022.
Cox isn’t the only change at the youth level, with Darren Fletcher recently becoming the new U18 coach, which CentreDevils exclusively broke him being the leading candidate for.
Torpey could be a great addition to the background staff given his experience, as United are aiming to take yet another Brentford man.
