Ruben Amorim has now had a major boost ahead of the weekend clash with West Ham United as Harry Maguire has re-joined the squad.
The Red Devils are set to face West Ham United in their first fixture of the Premier League Summer Series, heading from their base camp in Chicago to New Jersey for the fixture.
Amorim and his men arrived earlier this week as the travelling squad for the tour was announced, with the “bomb squad” remaining in Carrington.
However, eagle-eyed fans spotted another big name missing from the flight list in the form of Harry Maguire.
The centre-back has been key under Amorim since the Portuguese manager took over in November 2024, even grabbing some vital goals such as his 5-4 winner against Lyon in the Europa League Quarter-Final.
As such, leaving him out of the travelling squad sparked concern of injury, which also didn’t quite add up, with Andre Onana, Lisandro Martinez and Joshua Zirkzee all making the trip despite still being in recovery.
It wasn’t long before it was revealed that Maguire was left behind due to a personal situation, requiring him to remain in England.
However, the next day, Maguire took to social media, thanking fans for the support, confirming that it was now all resolved and he’d be linking up with the teammates in Chicago.
Now, Manchester United have taken to their official site, confirming that Maguire is in the States and is available for the opening match with West Ham.
The statement read: “Centre-back Harry Maguire has now joined the squad and could be available to feature against the Hammers after training with the squad.”
Following the clash, United will then prepare to face Bournemouth in Chicago and Everton in Atlanta as they tour America to boost the club’s brand in the USA and get much needed gametime against their Premier League opponents.
