Manchester United have released several talented players this summer at the end of their contracts, and in some cases, other clubs are jumping on the opportunity to add free transfer to their ranks.
Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans all left Ruben Amorim’s squad at the end of their contracts, with Evans being the only to hang up his boots to remain at Old Trafford.
The former defender has taken on the role of Head of Loans and Pathways at United, whilst Lindelof and Eriksen are still looking for their next club, not ready to call it a day on their careers just yet.

However, another pair of United departures are Aoife Mannion and Alyssa Aherne who left the women’s side at the end of the season.
Whilst Mannion was already snapped up by Newcastle United, Aherne has now fould her new club with Sheffield United.
The 21-year-old spent last season with The Blades on loan, so is now set to return to Sheffield on a permanent basis.
Taking to their official website, Sheffield United have announced: “United have signed up another familiar face as forward Alyssa Aherne returns to Bramall Lane on a permanent basis after leaving Manchester United.”

Speaking for the first time as a permanent member of The Blades, Alyssa Aherne commented: “It’s really nice to be back and see all the girls and have a bit of familiarity ahead of the new season. I’m looking forward to being back and just hoping I can play every game this season.”
However she’s not the only one to be happy about the move, with head coach Ash Thompson commenting: “We saw what Alyssa can do towards the end of last season and I’m really excited to both bring her back as a permanent Sheffield United player and also see how she develops with us because we know how much talent Alyssa has.”
He added: “I’m looking forward to working with her again because we know she has the attributes to be an important player for us moving forwards.”
