Transfer links between the current Manchester United and Chelsea squads have been going strong both ways since last summer when The Blues took Jadon Sancho on a season-long loan.

Chelsea agreed to sign Sancho on deadline day, with a £25 million obligatory buy clause coming into effect if they finished above 15th place in the league.

Ultimately, Chelsea came fourth, whilst United in fact came 15th, triggering the clause, however with Sancho and Chelsea unable to agree terms over his £300,000 per week wages, the Stamford Bridge outfit paid a £5 million penalty fee to send him back to Old Trafford at the end of the summer.

In the meantime, another potential deal with the two clubs was explored in the winter transfer window, one that would have seen Alejandro Garnacho head to London whilst Christopher Nkunku joined United in a player-swap deal.

The move was explored with Chelsea showing keen interest in the Argentina international, and United needing a striker desperately amid their up-front crisis, seeing Rasmus Hojlund suffer a 21-game goal drought.

However, nothing materialised in the winter, with the deal once more being explored only a month ago at the start of the summer transfer window.

Now, United have been linked with Chelsea’s other striker, Nicolas Jackson, with the star being linked as one of two strikers that United are currently looking at signing, with the other being Benjamin Sesko of RB Leipzig.

However, Ben Jacobs has now reported that a move for Jackson is unlikely, and whilst it’s not off the table, a lot would need to change to make it happen.

Right now, United are in desperate need of getting some sales across the line to free up space in their salary budget and generate funds for new signing.

As such, new movement for fresh faces at Old Trafford will likely come after the Red Devils have offloaded some of their unwanted stars.
