Ruben Amorim has identified Manchester United’s attack as a key area for improvement this summer.

United managed just 44 league goals last season, with first-team strikers Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Hojlund combining for only seven goals.

Following the arrivals of Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo, the focus now shifts to bringing in a new centre-forward.

United have already missed out on several targets, including Hugo Ekitike, Viktor Gyokeres, and Victor Osimhen, but continue to explore alternative options.

One name now under consideration is Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson.

Manchester United have made contact with Nicolas Jackson over a potential move, but face competition from Aston Villa, who have also registered their interest in the Chelsea striker.

United, who need to sell before they can buy, were hoping to secure Jackson for a reasonable fee after he slipped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge following the arrivals of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro.

However, according to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, Chelsea have placed a hefty valuation on the Senegalese forward, who still has eight years remaining on his contract.

The Blues reportedly value Jackson between £80 million and £100 million, comparing the deal to Liverpool’s recent £79 million signing of Hugo Ekitike.

Chelsea believe Jackson’s Premier League experience and long-term potential justify the price tag, and with no financial pressure to sell, it would take a substantial offer to convince them to part ways with the 24-year-old ahead of the new season.

Jackson arrived at Chelsea in 2023 from Villarreal, scoring 30 goals in his time at the club.

Although Jackson has sometimes struggled in front of goal, he has shown plenty of positives traits at Premier League level.

Excelling at sharp movement and link up play, Jackson would be an improvement to United’s front line but at the price point reported, United are unlikely to make a move for the striker.
