Despite Marcus Rashford being on the verge of moving to Barcelona, having landed in the Spanish city last night, the England international may not be able to play for the LaLiga champions.
Barcelona have had financial issues worse than Manchester United’s for some time, routinely struggling to register players they’ve bought due to the financial barriers of the club.
Last season saw Barcelona’s new signings Dani Olmo and Pau Victor finally register after the season started, with their registrations voided due to continued battles with the Spanish football council.

Now, the same situation could well be emerging with Barca’s new signing, Marcus Rashford.
Despite the United attacker taking a major pay cut from £16.9 million per year to £8.6 million per year, his registration for the club may not be guaranteed.
In a new report, talkSPORT‘s Andy Brassell explained: “He’s taking a pay cut to make this happen, but there’s still no guarantee, certainly if you believe Javier Tebas, the president of LaLiga, that Barcelona will be able to register him for the moment.”

He continued: “That is something that we have to keep an eye on, as with every Barcelona signing. That was what made Nico Williams back out of the deal.
“Rashford doesn’t have an enormous amount of options, partly because of his salary, partly because of a disappointing last couple of years, even if he did show bits of his old self at Aston Villa.
“Both sides needed this to happen quite badly, which I think is great news for Marcus Rashford, it’s great news for England, and if it all works, it’s good news for Barcelona as well.”
