Links between Manchester United and several Sporting CP players began back in November 2024 when Ruben Amorim left the Portuguese capital to join The Red Devils as Erik ten Hag’s successor.
However, Amorim swore off a winter raid for any of his stars, giving a strong stance that if he were to look to sign any of his former players, it would be at the end of the season.
As such, the rumour mill and speculation has been growing since his departure over who he’s looking to bring to Old Trafford with him.

The strongest interest for some time has been with Viktor Gyokeres, with United needing an in-form striker to make an impact leading the front-line ahead of Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha.
However, another name is reportedly firmly on the shortlist too.
A Bola has reported that United are also interested in midfielder Morten Hjulmand.

The Red Devils are looking to strengthen their squad across the whole pitch, with Amorim recently suggesting that he needs more creativity and intensity in the middle of the pitch.
As such, Hjulmand is on the radar, with the Denmark international knowing Amorim’s system well.
It’s also expected that the 26-year-old would be keen on joining Ruben Amorim once more, seen as his move to Sporting from Lecce was entirely guided by working under Amorim.
It’s understood that this still remains the case as recent reports have revealed that Morten Hjulmand has been trying to lower his £70 million release clause due to the fact he signed his contract to work under Amorim who has now left, so feels the situation is no longer reflective of the contract he signed.
