Manchester United are still actively searching for attacking reinforcements, with manager Ruben Amorim eager to strengthen the squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The Red Devils recently walked away from high-cost striker negotiations, choosing instead to explore value and longevity in the market.

Despite links to several marquee names this window, no major forward has arrived at Old Trafford as pre-season preparations continue.

Fans have been calling for a reliable frontman who can guarantee 20+ goals a season, especially after last season’s struggles in front of goal.

One name long associated with United’s transfer plans is now off the table.

Victor Osimhen is set to join Galatasaray in a sensational deal that effectively ends all hopes of a future move to Manchester United.

Fabrizio Romano, via X, confirmed the transfer with his signature “Here we go!”, stating that the Nigerian striker will complete a €75 million (£65 million)  switch.

Galatasaray will pay €40 million immediately, followed by €35 million in 12 months, with an additional 10% sell-on clause and performance-based bonuses also agreed.

To add a layer of exclusivity, a unique clause has been inserted: Victor Osimhen cannot be sold to any Italian club for the next two years.

Manchester United had been tracking Osimhen closely during his time at Napoli, but his high price tag made a deal difficult.

Instead of pushing further, United’s recruitment team redirected focus to more attainable targets.

The Galatasaray deal represents a surprising turn in Osimhen’s career, moving from Serie A to the Turkish Super Lig rather than the Premier League.

It’s also a clear sign that United are no longer willing to be held to ransom for players, even ones they’ve admired for years.

Although Osimhen won’t be donning a United shirt anytime soon, the club is still in the market for an elite-level striker and will likely push forward before the window closes.
