Every transfer season, the rumour mill always starts turning, sometimes on genuine interest, sometimes as agents trying to push a deal, and sometimes it’s a mix of both.
Now, it’s been revealed that Manchester United are the latest club to be used in a “political game” around a transfer, according to BBC’s Simon Stone.
Manchester United have been in the market for a striker since the start of the transfer window, with major targets like Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike routinely being linked with The Red Devils.

According to Stone, United’s long-term link for Gyokeres is now being used to push forward a deal currently being discussed with Arsenal.
Talks between The Gunners and Sporting have stalled over a move for the Sweden international, with several reports now emerging that United are closing in on a move for the talented striker.
However, United’s strong interest in the striker as well as their clear priority to rebuild their attacking trio, and the link between Ruben Amorim and Gyokeres are now being used tactically to push Gyokeres’ move to the Premier League.

Recent reports have emerged saying that United are closing in on a move for the Sporting striker, with The Red Devils willing to offer a fee similar to Arsenal’s bid.
However, conflicting reports such as the X post from Sam C has suggested that there are no advanced negotiations between United or Sporting.
With these contradictions, it’s clear to understand why Simon Stone has posted the sense of United being used tactically in the deal, especially with Viktor Gyokeres keen to move to The Emirates to play for Arsenal, and not United.
Strong sense Man Utd being used in a political game re Gyokeres.
