Manchester United have been ramping up their preparation for the start of the 2025-26 season which starts in just three weeks time.
Earlier this month, we saw that the majority of Manchester United’s players returned to Carrington to start Ruben Amorim’s pre-season schedule.
As a part of this schedule, Ruben Amorim’s men will take part in a number of pre-season games.
The first of these – against Leeds United – took place today with the Old Trafford outfit drawing 0-0 with the West Yorkshire side.

Following the game, Ruben Amorim took part in an interview with the Telegraph’s Northern Football Correspondent James Ducker.
In this interview, Amorim stated that Manchester United had ‘a lack of pace, especially in the middle of the park’ during the game.
Through commenting specifically on the midfield area of the performance, Ruben Amorim may be dropping a hint about which area of the squad United will look to strengthen next.
During the 2025 summer transfer window, we have seen that the Red Devils have been linked with several midfielders.

One of these is current Juventus midfielder Douglas Luiz who was part of a trio of players offered to Manchester United in exchange for Jadon Sancho.
Sancho has been part of a ‘bomb squad’ who have only been allowed to report to Carrington at 5pm each day, long after the time the rest of Manchester United’s senior squad have finished their training.
Luiz also carries previous Premier League experience due to his time at Aston Villa.
Whether it be Luiz or another midfielder, adding more midfield depth would arguably be beneficial to United as they aim to improve on last season’s 15th place Premier League finish.
