Since the Brazilian signed for United, the Reds have been searching for a new number nine to go alongside Cunha this summer, with interest being shown in Viktor Gyokeres and Hugo Ekitike.
However, due to United’s failure to qualify for European competition next season, it has been difficult for the Red Devils to land many of their top targets.
Despite this, Manchester United have been attempting to secure the signature of Brentford forward, Bryan Mbeumo.
It was reported last month that both Manchester United and Tottenham were interested in the forward after former Brentford boss, Thomas Frank, was confirmed as Spurs’ new manager.
Since then, Mbeumo has informed Brentford and Spurs of his decision and who he would like to sign for, should a deal go ahead this summer.
The Cameroonian decided against joining his former manager at Spurs and opted for Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United.

The Reds saw an initial proposal of £45 million plus £10 million in add-ons rejected earlier in the window, before sending an improved offer of £55 million plus £7.5 million in bonuses to Brentford, which was also turned down.
Talks have been progressing between the two clubs since then as United attempt to land their third signing of the summer.
David Ornstein has now exclusively revealed that Manchester United have made a third improved bid for the Brentford striker, the Red Devils have reportedly offered Brentford £65 million plus £5 million in add-ons.
The 25-year-old is entering the final year of his deal at Brentford, however the Bees do have the option to extend for an extra year should they once again reject United’s offer.
During last season’s Premier League campaign, Mbeumo scored 20 goals for Brentford linking up well with his team mate Yoane Wissa, finishing the season as their top goal scorer leading to interest from other Premier League clubs.
Ruben Amorim will be hoping United’s third attempt to sign the forward will be a successful one and the Portuguese man can instantly embed Mbeumo straight into his starting eleven during the Reds upcoming tour in the USA.
