Ruben Amorim has made it clear he wants attacking reinforcements at Manchester United before the new Premier League season kicks off.
The Red Devils are heading to the United States for pre-season, but behind the scenes, work continues to get a marquee forward through the door.
United have identified several names, but with budget constraints and tough negotiations slowing things down, the club is yet to strike a breakthrough.

A Premier League-proven name has emerged as the priority option for Amorim’s rebuild.
One player is said to have already agreed personal terms with the club, but Manchester United’s latest setback may now drag the saga into August.
Manchester United believed they were edging closer to securing a deal for Bryan Mbeumo, but Brentford’s appointment of Keith Andrews has complicated the process, as per The Mirror.
The Red Devils have already seen multiple offers for the Cameroon international rejected — the latest reaching £60million — with Brentford unwilling to lower their valuation.
The managerial change, with Andrews taking over from Thomas Frank, has seen internal priorities shift, and United’s optimism has now turned into frustration.
Although Spurs previously showed interest, their pursuit has cooled, leaving United with a seemingly open path to Bryan Mbeumo — a player keen on the move to Old Trafford.
However, Brentford remain firm. The newly-appointed coach wants to keep hold of the club’s biggest attacking asset after his stellar season.

Mbeumo’s form has turned him into the Bees’ primary weapon, and United had hoped to have him available for their US tour after talks began several weeks ago.
Phil Giles, Brentford’s director of football, hinted that only a huge offer would tempt them to sell.
“If Bryan earned a massive move now and it was right for us financially, we’d be open to it.
“But if he ended up here next season, I wouldn’t be massively surprised,” said Giles.
Brentford are already eyeing Ipswich forward Omari Hutchinson as a potential replacement, but until United meet the valuation, Mbeumo’s switch remains on hold.
With the player still eager to join and United refusing to give up, all eyes are on whether a final agreement can be reached before pre-season ends.
