Aston Villa’s star shot-stopper Emiliano Martinez is coming under renewed interest from Manchester United, as The Red Devils consider a new goalkeeper signing.

Headed into the summer, United were planning a whole squad overhaul as they look to build a team for Ruben Amorim to restore the club to its former winning ways.

However, their progress in doing so isn’t as far along as Amorim would have liked, with only Matheus Cunha having joined the senior squad.

Now, as one comes in, another goes out, however this time with injury as Andre Onana has suffered a hamstring injury ruling him out of the US pre-season tour.

As such, it’s understood that Radek Vitek is set to step up and support the senior side, whilst the talented young keeper is also being scouted by Austrian champions Sturm Graz look to sign the 21-year-old.

With Vitek potentially set to leave the club as well as second-choice goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, United are now looking once more to Emiliano Martinez with real intent on signing the World Cup Winner.

It’s understood that Martinez is just as keen to join The Red Devils, seeing it as a step up in his career as another shot with a “Bix Six” side, having failed to assert himself at Arsenal.

Now, La Nacion has reported that in his bid to move to Old Trafford, Martinez has rejected some major contracts from the Saudi Pro League which would have seen him earn £26 million per year.

However, Martinez has no interest in moving to Saudi, especially with United knocking on the door for him, seeing the move to Manchester being an opportunity for another top-level challenge.

Villa are also willing to accommodate the move to join The Red Devils, with the club negotiating a transfer fee with a slight difference in valuations.

Currently The Villains are wanting £40 million for their star, whilst United are hoping to talk them down to around £33 million.
