Manchester United have remained relatively quiet in the transfer window compared to some of their Premier League rivals.

With the club focused on balancing financial sustainability and smart recruitment, the Red Devils have been watching the market unfold with strategic interest.

The striker department, in particular, remains a key discussion point among supporters after last season’s underwhelming attacking output.

While Manchester United are prioritising balance across all areas, rivals like Newcastle are making major headlines in the forward market.

And the latest move from the Magpies has sent shockwaves through the window, potentially triggering a domino effect that could circle back to Old Trafford.

According to fresh reports from BILD in Germany, Newcastle United have made a staggering £87 million (€100 million) all-in proposal for Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike.

The Bundesliga side had rejected an opening £70 million (€80 million) bid, but the Tyneside club are now accelerating efforts to secure the 23-year-old Frenchman.

Newcastle view Hugo Ekitike as a central piece to their project and are keen to finalise the move swiftly, amid growing pressure from clubs and agents alike.

While Chelsea and Arsenal are said to be out of the race, Liverpool are reportedly monitoring the situation, but their top target remains Newcastle’s Alexander Isak.

Al-Hilal from Saudi Arabia are also interested in the Frankfurt forward and have indicated that matching the £87 million fee would be no problem at all.

This intensity from Newcastle may very well influence United’s strategy, especially if Frankfurt begin searching for replacements, some of whom may already be on the Red Devils’ radar.

With Ekitike off the table and Isak being courted by Liverpool, Manchester United may find themselves entering the next phase of striker scouting under increased scrutiny.

The market is heating up — and Ruben Amorim, may have to act fast to avoid being left behind in the striker carousel.
