Manchester United’s preparations for the 2025/26 season continue behind the scenes as Ruben Amorim and his staff work on finalising key areas of the squad.

While much of the focus has been on reinforcing the midfield and forward line, questions remain over the goalkeeping department, particularly concerning the future of Andre Onana, but also Altay Bayindir.

Bayindir, who arrived as backup to Andre Onana, has seen limited action at Old Trafford and is now reportedly open to a move in search of regular first-team football.

With interest building from clubs across Europe and Turkey, United are carefully considering their next steps.

It was reported that Bayindir was offered to Goztepe, a sister club to Southampton under the Sport Republic umbrella.

Meanwhile, Andre Onana is expected to remain the club’s undisputed number one for the coming season, despite suffering a hamstring injury in pre-season training.

As a result of interest for Bayindir, the scouting department has widened their search for a potential replacement if he departs.

Manchester United have been scouting Botafogo goalkeeper John Victor as a contingency option.

The 29-year-old has impressed with his commanding presence, reflexes, and distribution — all key traits in Ruben Amorim’s possession-based system.

John Victor, who has risen rapidly through the ranks at Botafogo, is now on United’s radar as a potential signing should Bayindir leave during this transfer window, as The Athletic has reported.

He has earned plaudits for his performances in the Brasileirao, and his style of play appears to align with what the Red Devils want from their goalkeepers under Amorim.

While there’s no formal offer on the table yet, United’s interest in the Brazilian stopper indicates that they are planning for all scenarios in the transfer window.

The club is keen to avoid being caught short between the sticks and want to ensure seamless continuity if changes occur.

As speculation over Bayindir’s exit grows, don’t be surprised if United step up their interest in John Victor in the coming weeks.
