Manchester United are continuing their search for a new goalkeeper, with Botafogo’s John Victor a routine name on the club’s shortlist.
Last week, Andre Onana suffered a hamstring injury in training, unfortunately falling in the first week back of the pre-season, with a likely side-line time of six to eight weeks.
Fresh reports have suggested that Onana is responding well to initial treatment, potentially seeing him return within four weeks, however, if the initial assessment is right, he could miss the start of the Premier League campaign.

It’s understood that Ruben Amorim is looking to take a chance with academy keeper Radek Vitek starting for United’s first game of the Premier League Summer Series tour of America, however the club are considering recruiting someone new.
Enter Botafogo’s John Victor who has recently shone at the Club World Cup.
Victor has been in phenomenal form this season, grabbing 11 clean sheets in 30 games, including against PSG at the club world cup, and against club rivals Fluminense and Flamengo.

Now, Victor could be set for a move to the Premier League, with The Red Devils in the driver’s seat to secure his signature.
However, Fabrizio Romano has now commented on the situation, via Give Me Sport, saying: “He’s appreciated, internally highly rated by scouts. Let’s see if club-to-club contact will follow, at the moment not yet.”
As such, United are yet to contact Botafogo about a move, shutting down ideas of an imminent move for the Brazilian goalkeeper.
With United set to travel to the States in a week’s time, Amorim will be wanting to rectify his current goalkeeper dilemma as soon as possible, however this recent development suggests he’s hoping for Onana’s swift return.
