However, one area where Manchester United have not made any signings is in the goalkeeper position.

United have been linked with John Victor who the Red Devils are set to make a second bid for and Emiliano Martinez who the Old Trafford outfit formally contacted last month.

The need for more depth in the goalkeeper position has been further intensified through the news that Andre Onana has picked up a hamstring injury during pre-season training.

Unfortunately for the Cameroon international, the injury will see Onana on the side-line for a minimum of four weeks although it is still hoped that the Cameroonian will be fit for United’s opening Premier League game against Arsenal.

it’s understood that the injury will mean that Altay Bayindir will step in Onana’s shoes during the Red Devils’ upcoming camp in the USA.

Now, a new recruitment plan for the goalkeeper position has been revealed as United analyse their options ahead of the upcoming campaign.

According to i news, if Manchester United are to recruit a new goalkeeper, they will be targeting younger and more inexperienced options to provide cover as a secondary option, with Onana still holding the role of first-choice keeper.

Furthermore, it shows a change in the Red Devils’ recruitment strategy as United look to move towards younger options that can grow whilst under the guidance of Ruben Amorim and his team.
