The 2025-26 season is quickly approaching at Old Trafford and Manchester United will be aiming to improve on their 15th finish last season.

To do this, the Red Devils have been recruiting players in several areas of the field.

One of these areas in the striker role.

This can be seen through the signing of Matheus Cunha – who became Ruben Amorim’s first summer signing earlier this window.

However, more arguably must be done by United to both strengthen their squad and to give themselves a better chance of finishing in the coveted European spots at the end of next season.

Now, The Sun has reported that Manchester United have made a ‘shock move’ for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, which may come to the pleasant surprise of some fans.

Calvert-Lewin is a free agent following the expiry of his deal with Everton last week.

The striker would become part of a hectic summer at Manchester United that has not only seen a change in an on-field aspect but also in a off-field aspect.

If the Englishman were to join the club, he would bring depth and quality from his time at the Toffees.

United are severely struggling in the striker department, with Rasmus Hojlund failing to provide consistency in front of goal and Joshua Zirkzee struggling to find his feet in his debut season.

Also United have failed to sign a striker to replace Hojlund this summer, with Liam Delap signed by Chelsea and Arsenal seemingly front-runners for Viktor Gyokeres.

As such, a move to United may offer a chance for Calvert-Lewin to rebuild after a time at Everton that was riddled with injuries.
