The situation between Viktor Gyokeres and Sporting CP seems to have reached a breaking point as the player’s and the club’s separation becomes more generally known.

Gyokeres is reportedly angry with the squad because it seems like they broke the gentleman’s agreement when the striker agreed to a new contract.

In a fit of rage, Gyokeres removed Sporting from his social media bio, intensifying the already-brewing dispute.

At the time of contract negotiations, an agreement was reportedly in place for the striker to depart the team for £50 million plus £8.4 million in add-ons.

However, by demanding £67 million for the striker, the team is allegedly breaching their contract with their best player.

Now, there has been another update on the situation, with the Portuguese giants ready to accept bonuses for the striker.

According to A Bola, Sporting are willing to accept add-ons as part of their £69 million (€80 million) valuation of Viktor Gyokeres – potentially £60 million (€70 million) fixed and a further £9 million (€10 million) in bonuses.

After being signed from Coventry in 2023, Gyokeres cost Sporting £17 million (€20 million) plus £3.5 million (€4 million) for goals.

Ever since Ruben Amorim left Sporting to become manager of Manchester United, Gyokeres has been linked to a move to Old Trafford.

Given their success together and Gyokeres’ desire for a fresh challenge, it is thought that a reunion is imminent given United’s dire need for a new striker.

However, Amorim’s dream move to reunite the pair could well be of the cards with Arsenal as front runners to sign the striker, with personal terms already agreed in principle.

United are already showing interest in Aston Villa’s Ollie Watkins as a potential alternative to the Sweden international.
