Manchester United are on the brink of signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford in their second major deal of the summer, however they aren’t planning on stopping.
Mbeumo is set to undergo his medical next week to officially become a United player, joining Matheus Cunha as two new members of Ruben Amorim’s attacking trio.
Whilst the signing of the pair shows a clear focus from United to recruit to the attacking roles, given The Red Devils’ poor results last season, it’s not the only area the club are looking to sign to.
The Times has now reported that United are looking to also sign a striker, a wingback, a midfielder and a goalkeeper this summer.
United’s search for a goalkeeper seems to have settled firmly on Emiliano Martinez from Aston Villa, however their search for a striker is wide open.
Players like Hugo Ekitike, Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres have all been linked to the club, with the latter now handing The Red Devils a major boost.
It’s understood that Gyokeres is now open to listening to Amorim’s pitch for a reunion after Arsenal seem to be focusing on a move for Benjamin Sesko.
With those two roles seemingly having strong candidates to fill them, no strong links have emerged for the midfielder or wing-back roles.
One thing that is certain however, is that United will need to make sales before any further purchases can be made after Mbeumo’s arrival
To generate funds, Manchester United are looking to offload four key attackers who are surplus to requirements, in the form of Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho.
The hope is that the sale of the four could bring major funding to the club, with both Garnacho and Rashford being products of the United academy, going further to ease the club’s financial pressures under Profit and Sustainability Rules.
