According to Sebastião Sousa-Pinto via X, Costa has been highly regarded by Amorim since January, with the goalkeeper seen as his top choice, and while no official offer has been made, internal talks about a possible move remain active.

One major obstacle facing United is the goalkeeper’s price tag, which could present a problem if the club struggles to offload players to raise funds.
Costa’s current market valuation and Porto’s stance on his release clause make him an expensive option, and United are aware they will need to sell before making a concrete move.
Still, he remains Amorim’s preferred candidate, and the club have not ruled out a future approach, particularly if Onana’s position becomes untenable or he departs.
