Brighton have beaten Manchester United to the signing of a young, talented striker.

Over the years, we have seen many wonderkids come through the doors of Old Trafford. Whether it’s Ronaldo or most recently Amad, the talent Manchester United have seen play on the hallowed turf of Old Trafford is immense.

However, they won’t be welcoming another wonderkid. At least not yet. This is because of reports stating that Brighton are leading the Red Devils in the signing of Olympiacos wonderkid Babis Kostoulas who has been previously targeted by United

Kostoulas has scored 7 goals for Olympiacos in the 22 matches he has played this season – with 13 of his matches being matches he had started.

Kostoulas’ Career Path

Babis Kostoulas’ career path has been quite simple on the surface with the striker coming through the Olympiacos youth system through the Olympiakos CFP Under 19 team.

Following this, the Greek youth international moved up to the Olympiacos II team. Here, the 18 year old played 22 times scoring on 3 occasions before moving to his current team, the Olympiacos first team.

Here, he has impressed scoring 7 goals in 35 games whilst playing a crucial role in the team’s run to the final 16 of the Europa League whilst also helping in the team’s run to the Super League title.

This impressive display attracted interest from several Premier League clubs including Manchester United, Arsenal and Brighton.

No Guarantee Yet

Brighton currently lead the race to sign the youngster although are not guaranteed to sign the 18 year old yet. This is due to the amount of clubs currently interested in the striker.

Outside of England, clubs such as Bourissa Dortmund and Juventus are also reported to be in competition with the Seagulls for the Greek youth international.

Furthermore, with a contract that doesn’t expire until 2030, Olympiacos will want a major sell-on clause in the transfer deal for their star player. This could come alongside a transfer figure as high as £46 million.

In Kostoulas, a club would get someone with immense potential, a goal-scoring ability and the ability to perform under pressure. However, the battle to earn the 18 year old’s signature is not close to being over yet.
