As the 2024/25 season comes to an end, Manchester United supporters group, The 1958, are rallying for one last protest before the campaign is done.
The supporters group routinely organise protests to stand up against the Glazer ownership which has caused a significant amount of the financial issues being faced by the club.
A recent report highlighting a £40 million loss by the club through quarter three of the current financial year indicates the extent of the effect that the interest payments on the Glazer debt are having on the club.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s attempts at making the club a profitable business to ensure financial sustainability are being massively impacted by the years of mismanagement under the Glazers.
As such, The 1958 have not only been protesting this season about The Glazer ownership, but also at the measures Ratcliffe has taken to compensate for the mismanagement.
Back in March 2025, the group rallied fans to join them on a march to Old Trafford ahead of their clash with Arsenal, hailing the move as a huge success with thousands in attendance.
Then in April 2025, the group organised a sit-down protest after United’s fixture with Manchester City to make a statement against Ratcliffe’s plans to redeveloping the seating around the dugout from season ticket holders to a 2hospitality zone”.
Unfortunately following this protest, one fan was caught on video in an altercation with stewards which saw him pushed and then getting restrained by other stewards, seeing the match-day staff suspended from duties.
Now, The Daily Mail report that The 1958 are planning their final protest of the season to take place in line with United’s final game, hosting Aston Villa on 25th May 2025, 20 years after The Glazers took ownership of the club.
