Manchester United’s transfer activity is heating up with Ruben Amorim looking to shape his squad ahead of his first full season in charge.

While key players remain sidelined or recovering, United’s backroom staff are already working to address the squad’s lack of consistency in the attacking third.

Following back-to-back disappointing Premier League campaigns, United’s need for goals and creativity is more urgent than ever.

Rasmus Hojlund is still finding his feet, and with many forward players set to depart, reinforcements up front have become a top priority.

Amorim has repeatedly hinted that his summer signings will focus on players who already know the pace of the Premier League.

One such name that has now emerged is Chelsea’s Christopher Nkunku, who is reportedly ready to quit Stamford Bridge just a year after his £52million arrival from RB Leipzig.

The French international is frustrated with his lack of playing time, with only seven of his 22 appearances coming in the Premier League this season.

Now, according to SunSport, Christopher Nkunku is the subject of a six-club transfer race, with Manchester United very much in the mix.

Ruben Amorim is said to be a “huge admirer” of Nkunku and believes his Premier League exposure makes him an ideal fit for his new-look United squad.

United even attempted to land Nkunku in January but are now expected to return with a more concrete approach this summer.

The race won’t be easy though, with Arsenal and Liverpool both eyeing the 27-year-old to bolster their Champions League squads.

West Ham, now under the leadership of ex-Chelsea manager Graham Potter, are also preparing a bold attempt to reunite with the forward.

Overseas, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid are keeping a close watch, with Nkunku reportedly open to leaving England altogether.

Chelsea, despite underusing him this season, are reluctant to strengthen a direct Premier League rival and would prefer an overseas sale.

But if United push hard, especially with Amorim’s project at the heart of negotiations, there’s still a chance to bring Nkunku to Old Trafford in one of the summer’s most talked-about moves.
