Manchester United’s 2-0 defeat to West Ham at the weekend has intensified pressure on head coach Ruben Amorim.

The result leaves United 16th in the table with just two games remaining in what is to be their worst-ever Premier League finish.

A major concern throughout the campaign has been the lack of cutting edge up front.

Particularly from Rasmus Hojlund.

The Danish striker, who once had high hopes to become a clinical finisher, squandered a huge chance against West Ham.

His close-range effort was denied by Alphonse Areola.

Staff at United are now “losing patience” with Hojlund, who has scored just four league goals in a disappointing season.

In response, United have added a more polished striker to their shortlist ahead of a crucial summer rebuild.

Moise Kean open to Premier League return with Manchester United interested

Fiorentina forward Moise Kean is now being considered as a potential option – Kean who previously played for Everton under Carlo Ancelotti.

Sky Switzerland journalist Sacha Tavolieri has revealed that Kean is open to a Premier League return this summer.

The Italian has enjoyed a standout season in Serie A and would be open to joining a Champions League-level side.

That is dependent on if his financial expectations are met.

United are said to have contacted Kean’s camp in recent weeks to explore the possibility of a summer move.

Kean has a €50m (£42m) release clause that activates on July 1.

Fiorentina are not expected to negotiate for a lower fee.

According to Tavolieri, multiple Premier League clubs have been in touch, with United viewing Kean as a strong alternative to Viktor Gyokeres.

Sporting Lisbon’s Gyokeres is currently Arsenal’s top striker target, prompting United to assess backup plans in the market.

Kean, described as ‘exceptional’ and known for his ‘blistering pace’, has scored 17 goals and delivered three assists in 30 league appearances this term.

Only Atalanta’s Mateo Retegui has more Serie A goals this season, with 24 in 33 matches.

United are planning an aggressive summer under Amorim, and the addition of a proven goalscorer could define their direction next season.

Fans are likely to welcome the pursuit of a more dependable forward as United look to bounce back next season.
