Manchester United’s summer planning continues to gather pace as Ruben Amorim prepares to reshape his squad ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

After sealing a place in the Europa League final, the Red Devils are hoping they can pick up silverware this season and qualify for the Champions League next season.

Amorim’s blueprint is focused on recruiting young, versatile attackers capable of operating across the frontline, a strategy that has seen United linked with a host of exciting names.

The manager is said to be heavily involved in transfer talks, working alongside INEOS as they push to finalise deals early in the window before players report for pre-season.

But just as United’s targets become clear, another Premier League side is now looking to interfere.

According to the Daily Mail, Newcastle United are looking at three of Manchester United’s targets.

Newcastle United are stepping up their interest in Wolves forward Matheus Cunha, a long-term target of Manchester United and who is said to be close to agreeing terms with the Red Devils.

The Brazilian has enjoyed a productive season at Molineux, with his blend of pace, technical flair and direct style making him one of the standout performers in the Midlands.

Newcastle’s admiration for Cunha is a result of Alexander Isak’s uncertain future amid interest from elite European clubs.

Also on Newcastle’s radar is Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo, whose versatility and Premier League experience make him a valuable asset.

Mbeumo, a player United have kept close tabs on in recent weeks, is believed to be open to a move if the right project is offered — and both clubs consider him a realistic option.

Meanwhile, rising English striker Liam Delap, who has been relegated with his Ipswich side, is also being monitored by the Magpies.

United are also weighing up a summer approach for Delap as part of their push to add younger homegrown options to Amorim’s attack.

But Newcastle’s sudden interest now threatens to derail United’s plans, with all three players seen as key options to freshen up the forward line.

While United remain hopeful of landing at least one of them, it’s clear they will face strong domestic competition — and a transfer battle could be brewing.
