Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has opened up on his time as manager of Manchester United, in a new interview.
The Norwegian was in charge at Old Trafford from 2018 to 2021, and joined Besiktas in the Turkish Super Lig earlier this year.
Despite signing a new contract in 2021 following United’s second-placed Premier League finish, the club faced a serious downturn in form, and Solskjaer was sacked.

Now, in an interview to BBC Sport, the former United striker has opened up on the club.
“Man United is my family and will always be part of me,” he said.
“In football, you don’t feel sorry for anyone because we are privileged, absolutely 100% privileged to be able to work in clubs like this.
“But for me, it is hard to watch because it is your family that is struggling. It is never easy at the weekend when you look at the table.”

Solskjaer’s time at United coincided with the arrival of players such as Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes.
Maguire, despite his key role for the Red Devils now, was a source of huge debate due to the £80m price tag and the defender’s less-than-ideal start at the club.
“For me, Harry [Maguire] has always been a leader and a fighter,” Solskjaer said.
“I was never in doubt when I signed him and he walked in the door he would be captain for us.
“There is another captain there in Bruno [Fernandes]. The two of them are top human beings.”
The club has seen plenty of overturn since Solskjaer’s departure, but Maguire and Fernandes remain among the key members of Ruben Amorim’s squad now.
“Those two and Victor [Lindelof] are probably the only ones I have heard from in the club since I left. You want the best for them.”
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will take on another former Manchester United manager when his club face Fenerbahce today, Jose Mourinho.
“It will be good to see him again and hopefully the headlines will be about the team and the football that is played and nothing else”, the Norwegian said.
