Manchester United are wasting no time getting their summer business underway, with several targets already being tracked across Europe.

Ruben Amorim has made it clear that attacking reinforcements are a top priority, and United have already advanced talks with Matheus Cunha over a potential switch to Old Trafford.

Elsewhere, Atalanta’s Ederson continues to be monitored closely as the midfield rebuild gathers pace.

Despite links to big-money exits for Antony and Marcus Rashford, the club is focusing on adding quality and character, not just star names, as part of Amorim’s squad reset.

United are expected to be busy in the coming weeks, but not every player previously on the list will be pursued.

One such case is Rayan Cherki.

The French playmaker has been offered to Manchester United by his representatives ahead of the transfer window, as per GIVEMESPORT.

Although Cherki’s talent is undisputed, sources indicate that the club is no longer actively pursuing a deal, despite previously scouting the 21-year-old extensively during his breakthrough seasons in Ligue 1.

Rayan Cherki is entering the final year of his contract at Lyon and is believed to be available for a cut-price fee in the region of £25million, with his entourage making contact with several Premier League clubs in recent weeks.

However, United’s recruitment department is said to have concerns over the player’s fit within Amorim’s vision for the team, particularly with regards to his consistency and temperament.

As a result, rivals Liverpool and Tottenham are now leading the chase for the highly-rated Frenchman, with both clubs showing a greater willingness to explore a potential move.

Cherki is keen on securing a move to Liverpool this summer, but doubts remain over whether Arne Slot will green-light the transfer, as the Dutchman is placing strong emphasis on detailed personality assessments and targeting players with very specific qualities in the market.

Cherki, who has been tipped for stardom since his teenage years, will not be heading to Old Trafford barring a dramatic late U-turn.

Instead, United’s focus remains on finalising their top attacking targets — with Cunha edging closer to an agreement — while other options are being lined up in wide and central areas.
