Ruben Amorim has a tough job ahead of him with rebuilding his squad this summer to bounce back from a truly disappointing start at Old Trafford.
United currently sit in 14th place in the Premier League, whilst are also in a string seat to progress to the Europa League final looking set to play Tottenham Hotspur, who sit in 16th place in the Premier League.
Whilst The Red Devils are the only undefeated team still in the Champions League or Europa League, the same can’t be said about their domestic run, which has quite simply been a failure.
Now, with the end of the Premier League season looking, Amorim has the chance to rebuild his squad, however, the club’s financial restrictions pose a real concern over doing so.

Manchester United’s financial struggles impact the summer transfer window

Earlier this year Sir Jim Ratcliffe opened up about the struggles the club were facing, claiming that without his investment and intervention, the club would have been bust by the end of 2025.
As such, Amorim was given minimal funds for the winter transfer window, with the same looking likely for the summer.
It’s understood that the club have the funds currently to get their deals for Matheus Cunha and Liam Delap across the line, but any other new signings would be a struggle.
As such, United would need to make sales first to generate the funds needed to finance other new signings.

Alejandro Garnacho sale to fund summer transfers

Now, Area Napoli has reported that United are willing to reduce their valuation of star man Alejandro Garnacho in a bid to generate funds.
The Argentina international broke through into the first squad last season as a sensational winger, but is now having to adapt his style to fit in under Amorim, with other clubs looking to sign him to his natural role.
Napoli initially looked to Garnacho this winter a as replacement for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia however United rejected their bids over a disagreement over his valuation.
It’s understood that the Italian side haven’t given up hope of signing him though, with Antonio Conte determined to sign him.
Now, United are reportedly willing to accept £42.5 million for their star playmaker who’s also one of the club’s top goalscorers this season.
Whilst his sale may be disappointing for fans given his impressive talent on the pitch, he’s one of the few players at the club who would give the club an extra boost through a sale.
As a product of the academy, Garnacho would register as “pure profit” under Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), meaning that more of the sale would contribute towards their income and ease their struggles.
