With the season reaching its most crucial phase, Manchester United’s focus remains fixed on navigating a dramatic Europa League semi-final against Athletic Club.

Ruben Amorim’s side travelled to San Mames for the first leg and came away with a 3-0 win and will now return to Old Trafford with everything still to play for.

After recent defensive wobbles, United are desperate to shore things up and rely on their home form to book a spot in the final.

Injury concerns continue to loom large, but the positive emergence of several stars in recent weeks has added fresh energy to a side fighting for Champions League qualification.

Amorim has leaned heavily on academy graduates, who could soon have an even bigger role if key names depart this summer.

Now, in a surprising development, Antony could be heading for the Old Trafford exit.

According to Marcos Benito, Atletico Madrid have made an official enquiry for the Brazilian winger as they look to reinforce their attack for next season.

Sources close to the situation indicate that United are open to letting Antony leave—just two years after signing him for €95 million—if a suitable offer in the region of €40 million to €50 million arrives.

That represents a significant loss on a player Erik ten Hag had viewed as a marquee addition in 2022, but Antony’s form has failed to justify his price tag.

Since joining Real Betis on loan, Antony has hit top form, contributing 10 goals and assists across 19 appearances in all competitions.

He added to his tally last night with a goal in Betis’ 2-1 win over Fiorentina in the UEFA Conference League semi-final.

United are understood to be planning a summer rebuild under Amorim, who wants to reshape the squad in his image.

Trimming the wage bill and creating room for new arrivals are top priorities, and Antony could be one of the first high-profile casualties.

Although no formal offer has been submitted by Atletico yet, discussions are expected to continue, with the Spanish club keen to secure a deal early before other suitors emerge.

If Antony leaves, it will mark a dramatic fall from grace for a player once touted as the future of United’s right flank.
