Manchester United’s new-look era under Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ruben Amorim is already beginning to bear fruit at youth level.

While the spotlight often falls on big-money signings, a quieter revolution is taking place behind the scenes at Carrington.

Ineos’ first transfer window included the arrival of several exciting teenage talents—part of a deliberate long-term strategy to secure the club’s future.

With the senior squad under pressure and rotation needed, Amorim has increasingly turned to the academy in recent months.

As the Europa League clash with Athletic Club approaches, another weekend of Premier League action could see more chances handed to United’s young stars.

One of those youngsters grabbing his opportunity with both hands is Chido Obi, whose rapid rise has earned him recognition across Europe.

Poached from Arsenal last summer, Chido Obi was seen as one of the top prospects in the country—and United’s promise of a clear pathway to the first team has been honoured.

The 17-year-old made his senior debut in February against Tottenham and hasn’t looked back since, impressing Amorim and coaches with his work ethic and sharp instincts in training.

Obi’s breakout hasn’t gone unnoticed in Denmark either, where the teenager represents the national team at youth level.

This week, Obi was officially crowned ‘Comet of the Year’ by Danish outlet Bold, an award given to the standout young player making a breakthrough.

The prize is based on votes from respected figures across the Danish football talent landscape, and Obi emerged as the clear winner.

He celebrated the honour on Instagram, sharing a post from his representatives at Elite Group Project.

Earlier this year, Chido Obi also earned a spot in Goal’s 2025 NXGN rankings, a prestigious list of the world’s top 50 talents born after January 1, 2006.

Though he’s ineligible for Europa League action this season, Obi continues to feature in the Premier League, recently being introduced against Bournemouth as United chased an equaliser.

Sources suggest Amorim is considering starting the teenager against Brentford on Sunday, with senior players being rotated for continental fixtures.

The manager has urged Obi to stay focused and maintain his level, hinting that a strong finish to the campaign could set him up for a major role in pre-season.

With maturity beyond his years and a growing list of admirers, Chido Obi looks destined to become a household name at Old Trafford.
