Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has cast doubt on any Manchester United move for in-form forward Victor Osimhen this summer.

The Nigerian striker will be available this summer, with Napoli looking to cut ties after loaning him to Galatasaray.

The move last summer followed issues surrounding Osimhen’s contract situation in Naples, despite the 26-year-old’s 26 Serie A goals firing Napoli to the title in the 2022/23 season.

And in Turkey, Osimhen has thrived.

Aided by the forward’s 30 goals, including six in the Europa League, Galatasaray look set to beat Ex-Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho-led Fenerbahce to the Super Lig title.

Napoli could yet accept a cut-price for the striker upon his return, though, with Antonio Conte keen to continue his revival of the Italian giants, who could still win Serie A this season.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, a move bringing Osimhen to Old Trafford this summer is unlikely.

Speaking on YouTube, Romano said: “He wants the same salary he’s earning at Napoli – €12m net, plus commissions and his €75m release clause.

“No English club is ready to pay him €12m net.”

It is unclear whether Osimhen would be willing to accept a decrease in his pay to leave Napoli, but those demands appear to be a stumbling block in any planned negotiations currently.

United are expected to move for a striker this summer, with Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee failing to impress at Old Trafford.

Viktor Gyokeres, Benjamin Sesko, and Hugo Ekitike have also been linked, but huge finances are likely to be required in the case of all three.

However, there has been some talk of a possible departure for Hojlund, with Ruben Amorim reportedly willing to sanction the sale of the Dane to raise funds.

United are expected to complete a move for Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha, with negotiations for the Wolves star reportedly progressing.
