Manchester United were back on the training pitch at Carrington on Wednesday morning, stepping up preparations ahead of their weekend Premier League clash against Bournemouth.
Manager Ruben Amorim, aiming to strike the right balance between recovery and readiness, granted his squad two days of rest following their disappointing 1-0 defeat to Wolves at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Despite the time off, United’s issues this season remain glaring.
With their lowest-ever Premier League finish now inevitable, the focus has shifted to silverware as a potential saving grace.
The Reds still have a route to Champions League qualification through the Europa League, where they face Athletic Club in a season-defining semi-final.
Amorim, who has spoken openly about the need to reshape and rejuvenate the squad, appears increasingly willing to hand opportunities to younger players during this congested period.
As reported by Rich Fay, among those involved in first-team training this week were academy prospects Harry Amass and Tyler Fredricson, both of whom featured in the matchday squad against Wolves and caught the eye with mature performances despite the defeat.

The pair are expected to retain their places in the squad when United travel to the Vitality Stadium.
They were joined in training by four more academy hopefuls, highlighting the growing trust in United’s youth system under Amorim.
Chido Obi, one of the most highly rated youngsters at the club, has been earmarked for further Premier League exposure, while Jaydan Kamason and Zac Baumann also took part in the session, pushing their cases for inclusion.
Dan Gore, who suffered a frustrating injury shortly after joining Rotherham United on loan in January, was also present.
The midfielder is now back to full training and continuing his recovery under United’s medical staff.
While it remains uncertain whether he will return to Rotherham for the final two fixtures of their campaign, his presence at Carrington is a welcome boost.
As Amorim manages injuries and fatigue heading into a packed run-in, the presence of six young talents in training serves as a timely reminder that United’s next generation is ready to step up — and they might be called upon sooner rather than later.
