Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Matheus Cunha has had a fantastic season despite the club’s lowly position in the Premier League table.

With 16 goals and four assists in 31 games for Wolves this season, Cunha has surpassed his career best goalscoring season which came last year, in his first full season with the Midlands club.

However, it’s not just his goal contributions which are setting him up as a prime target this summer, but also his versatility.

Despite naturally being a striker, Cunha’s been deployed on both wings as well as in attacking midfield, showing off his adaptability which makes him a vital asset to any club.

As such it comes as no surprise that four Premier League sides are fighting for his signature this summer as the Brazilian continues to prove himself.

Manchester United face competition for Matheus Cunha

TalkSPORT has revealed that Manchester United are up against Arsenal, Newcastle United and Nottingham Forest to sign 25-year-old.

However, it’s understood that The Red Devils have the edge with Cunha preferring a move to Old Trafford at the end of the season.

Cunha’s preference comes from a desire to be a vital part of Ruben Amorim’s plans to rebuild United and help the club bounce back from their worst ever Premier League performance and to fight to restore former glories.

It’s also understood that despite United’s financial struggles, which saw them have an extremely limited budget in January, The Red Devils can afford to trigger his £62.5 million release clause.

As such, all that’s needed is an agreement with Cunha and his representatives on his contract upon moving to Old Trafford which appears to be moving forward positively.

United are confident they can get the full agreement with Cunha in the coming weeks, marking a massive move for Amorim’s squad in the summer.
