Manchester United’s summer plans are already in motion behind the scenes as manager Ruben Amorim prepares for his first full window in charge.

The Reds have prioritised reinforcing the midfield, with several high-profile names linked as potential additions to the squad.

One of the key issues facing United is balancing experience with youth, particularly in central areas where Casemiro and Christian Eriksen could both depart.

Injuries and inconsistency have plagued the midfield this season, and with the club only scoring 38 goals in 32 league games, control in the centre has become vital to the rebuild.

While other names such as Felix Nmecha and Ederson have gained traction in recent weeks, one Bundesliga regular remains firmly on United’s radar.

Despite renewed interest from Manchester United, Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has no intention of leaving Bavaria this summer, as per Christian Falk.

The German international, who has long been admired at Old Trafford, is reportedly determined to see out his current contract, which runs until the summer of 2026.

United explored the possibility of bringing in the 30-year-old in the January transfer window, but the player wasn’t keen on leaving mid-season — a stance that has not changed heading into the final months of the campaign.

Leon Goretzka recently switched agents and is now represented by ROOF, a group with strong Premier League ties and clients such as Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk.

This development offered a glimmer of hope for suitors in England, but sources close to the player insist he remains settled at Bayern.

He’s clocked over 2,000 minutes under Vincent Kompany this season, reaffirming his value in the squad compared to others like Joao Palhinha, who has struggled to secure regular game time.

Financial factors also play a part, with Leon Goretzka earning €17 million per year — a figure few clubs, including United, would match.

The most realistic route to Old Trafford could be via free agency in 2026, when the midfielder could explore his options with greater flexibility.

For now, United will continue to monitor the situation but may be forced to turn their attention elsewhere if Goretzka maintains his current stance.
