A former Manchester United midfielder, who played at the club under Sr Alex Ferguson, has started his new role as technical advisory role for a national team.
Indonesia, not a major name in the football world, are looking to make huge strides as a footballing nation and have named a new technical advisor.
The hopes are that the appointment can improve the nation’s chances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Indonesia, whose current squad is heavily Dutch-influenced, have only qualified once for the international competition since its conception – in 1938 when a 6-0 loss to Hungary brought about their elimination.
Now though, with hopes to rewrite history and earn their place on the FIFA World Cup roster once again, Indonesia have appointed a fairly formidable name as their new technical advisor.

According to Jakarta Globe, former United midfielder Jordi Cruyff has been appointed Technical Advisor for the Indonesia national team.
Jordi Cruyff is arguably best known as being the son of one of the greatest players in football history in Johan Cruyff, but has carved out a successful career of his own.
Not only did he play at Old Trafford with the likes of David Beckham, Ryan Giggs and Roy Keane, but Jordi also played for Barcelona before joining The Red Devils in 1996.
After finishing his playing career, he’s taken on a number of roles off the pitch, most notably as the Barcelona sporting advisor in 2021.
So the role of advisor should be fairly familiar with the Dutchman.
Jordi Cruyff arrived in Indonesia this evening to begin his term in the role in his first role since that sporting advisor job at Barcelona.
The 51 year-old hopes to have a hand in securing the football-fervent nation their FIFA World Cup dreams.
