Manchester United have more than a dozen players out on loan this season, with mixed results across the board.

Antony has enjoyed a resurgence at Real Betis, proving to be a key player in Spain.

Meanwhile Marcus Rashford has rediscovered his love for football, thriving at Aston Villa.

Jadon Sancho, however, has seen his form at Chelsea decline.

United fans will be relieved that his loan deal includes a £25 million obligation to buy.

But while some loanees are thriving, others are struggling.

One such player is Tyrell Malacia, who is failing to impress at PSV Eindhoven.

Malacia started just his second Eredivisie game of the season last weekend in a shock 3-2 defeat to Go Ahead Eagles.

His performance – along with PSV’s overall defensive display – came under heavy criticism.

Club legend Rene Van de Kerkhof making his feelings clear.

Speaking on the Omroep Brabant podcast, Van de Kerkhof, who won three league titles with PSV in the 1970s, didn’t hold back.

“Against Go Ahead on Saturday, all three goals conceded were big mistakes in the defense,” he said, as quoted by Voetbal Zone.

“A Malacia like that is really a bad buy. I don’t want to see him again!

“He should just go back to Manchester United, get rid of him.

“You can also blame technical director Earnest Stewart for that, he should have taken a closer look at him.”

Malacia’s struggles have only worsened in the Champions League.

Night to forget for Tyrell Malacia in the Champions League

The full-back played 90 minutes in PSV’s humiliating 7-1 home defeat to Arsenal in the last 16, enduring a torrid evening.

While the Dutchman created three chances, he was part of a backline completely dismantled by the Gunners.

His early form is unlikely to win over PSV supporters, many of whom were already skeptical given his Feyenoord background.

It remains to be seen whether Malacia can turn things around.

But for now, his loan spell has done little to convince PSV fans or club legends like Van de Kerkhof.
