Manchester United have endured a miserable campaign and currently find themselves in the bottom half of the Premier League table.
Goals have been a major issue, with Rasmus Hojlund struggling to convince and losing the faith of supporters and even coaches.
Joshua Zirkzee, meanwhile, has improved in recent weeks but does not look like a natural centre-forward.
United have been actively searching for a new striker.
Fabrizio Romano has revealed to GiveMeSport that the Red Devils continue to closely monitor Viktor Gyokeres.

Romano states in his exclusive newsletter that United have been calling to keep informed about Gyokeres’ situation at Sporting CP as they weigh up a summer move.
The Swedish striker has been in sensational form since moving to Portugal.
He has so far netted 80 goals in just 89 games for the Primeira Liga champions.
That includes 25 goals in 23 league games this season, making him one of Europe’s most lethal forwards.
However, any United move could depend on their financial situation, with spending expected to be tightly controlled.
Sporting will demand around €65-70m (£55m) for their talisman, and United will likely face stiff competition for his signature.

Other Premier League clubs are also in the race, while Paris Saint-Germain have been tracking Gyokeres too.
However, the French giants have moved towards a ‘false nine’ system under Luis Enrique.
That may see the French giants steer away from signing a traditional striker.
Fabrizio Romano has made it clear that United must “get ready for the battle” if they wish to secure Gyokeres.
However, signing the 25-year-old alone will not fix United’s goalscoring problems.
Creativity remains a huge issue, and time is needed for the team to adapt to Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system.
