Manchester United are looking to Europe to reinforce their squad after being knocked out of the FA Cup.

Fulham bested The Red Devils in a dreaded penalty shootout as Ruben Amorim’s men still struggle to get results.

The squad have two key areas of issues at the moment, namely the lack of a consistent goalscoring striker, and the lack of reliability in goal.

Andre Onana has become a “major issue” at Old Trafford, with the coaches growing concerned about his ability or his place as first-choice keeper.

The Cameroon international has made some questionable decisions on the pitch this season which have resulted in goals being conceded.

Now, United’s recruitment team are looking for alternatives to replace the shot-stopper this summer.

MilanLive has reported that United are now looking to AC Milan’s Mike Maignan with growing concerns around Onana.

The Red Devils are making it a priority for their recruitment team, headed by Christopher Vivell, to find a new, reliable goalkeeper.

Already James Trafford has been highlighted as a key target following his impressive run of 24 clean sheets in the Championship.

Now, Maignan has joined the list, with 11 clean sheets in 40 games this season.

Although the France international is currently the Milan captain, a move for the star could still be possible.

With his contract running out in the summer of 2026, this summer transfer window sees Milan’s final chance to sell their star before he’s eligible for pre-contract negotiations in January, potentially seeing him leave for free if they aren’t planning on renewing his contract.

However, the 29-year-old would be United’s oldest singing under the INEOS ownership with the club shifting to a focus on younger stars with strong potential.

As such, Trafford appears to still be the front-runner to be lured to Old Trafford, however, Maignan would bring a wealth of experience to the club.
