Andre Onana’s future at Manchester United has been a major talking point in recent weeks amid his inconsistent performances.

The 28-year-old goalkeeper has come under scrutiny after a series of costly errors this season, leading to speculation about whether he will remain the club’s No.1 next season.

United head coach Ruben Amorim is expected to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer, adding further uncertainty around Onana’s role.

United’s goalkeeping department is set for changes, with veteran Tom Heaton likely to retire when his contract expires in June.

Meanwhile, second-choice Altay Bayindir could seek a move elsewhere in search of regular playing time ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Onana has made three errors leading to goals in the Premier League this season, with costly mistakes in defeats against Nottingham Forest, Wolves, and Brighton.

He was also heavily criticised for his role in Ipswich Town’s two goals in United’s narrow 3-2 win last week.

Despite making some key saves in the FA Cup loss to Fulham, Onana’s slow play at goal kicks frustrated sections of the Old Trafford crowd.

His overall performances have placed him 16th for save percentage out of 22 Premier League goalkeepers this season.

United signed the Cameroon international from Inter Milan in 2023 for £47.2 million.

If the club were to offload him, they would need to secure a fee of at least £28.32 million.

That is to avoid financial losses under the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.

Andre Onana opts to remain at Manchester United.

However, despite the speculation, Onana has no intention of leaving Old Trafford.

That is per Samuel Luckhurst’s report for Manchester Evening News, (MEN).

Sources close to the player insist he is fully committed to United and considers it the only club he wishes to play for.

His recent switch to the Lian Sports Group agency is said to be a personal decision rather than a move to seek a transfer.

Amorim has defended Onana in recent weeks and dismissed claims that he was responsible for Ipswich’s second goal.

“He did some great saves that saved our team and sometimes he has some problems but that is normal,” Amorim said on Friday.

“If you look for our team, you can find a lot of players with that issue.

“I think we are not performing so well as a team and sometimes players have a problem.

“People talk about the second goal from Ipswich, he is waiting for the touch of Delap. That is really clear.

“And then the ball continues to the goal. So that can happen.

“We just have to support Andre and forget about the past and prepare for the future.”

While Amorim is expected to bring in a new goalkeeper this summer, Onana is ready to fight for his place and has no plans to leave Manchester United.
