Manchester United are in desperate need of refreshing their squad with real quality and top experience.

Despite spending £600m under former manager Erik ten Hag, the team still lacks balance in profiles and quality in depth.

Ruben Amorim already made his first signing, bringing in Patrick Dorgu.

The young left wing-back has slotted in seamlessly and already looks the part.

However, many more signings are required to rebuild the squad into a competitive force.

One of United’s next expected arrivals is Sporting CP’s rising star Geovany Quenda.

According to Ben Jacobs, the club are making serious moves to finalise a deal this summer.

The transfer has reportedly been approved by Amorim, who is keen to utilise his Portuguese football connections.

Some outlets in Portugal claim personal terms have already been agreed, while others suggest talks are ongoing.

Manchester City and Liverpool are also interested, meaning United could face a battle for his signature.

Amorim has been a long-time admirer of Quenda, previously calling him a “very talented kid.”

The United boss added: “[He’s] very physically robust, very focused, with his feet firmly on the ground.”

Amorim also praised his attitude, saying: “He got his chance and there was no chance to take it away, no doubt, nothing.”

Bernardo Silva has his say on potential of Geovany Quenda

Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva has also tipped Quenda for greatness.

Silva believes the 18-year-old could be his eventual successor in Portugal’s national team.

“He will probably steal my place,” Silva said.

“At 17, I wasn’t even playing for Benfica’s youth team.”

United are leaning on Amorim’s knowledge of Portuguese football as they look to rebuild.

Quenda could be one of the first major additions under the new regime.

With major squad issues still unresolved, United know this summer will be crucial in reshaping the team.
