A year after Sir Jim Ratcliffe claimed his 27.7% stake in Manchester United, outbidding Sheikh Jassim, a lot has changed at the club.

The INEOS owner has carried out a series of controversial cost-cutting exercises to ease the financial pressures caused by years of economic mismanagement.

However, Sheikh Jassim hasn’t given up on owning United after losing out to INEOS.

A source close to Jassim has revealed to CentreDevils that the Sheikh remains interested in the club and is ready to re-enter the bidding for Manchester United should it be open again.

Interestingly, the Sheikh is interested in full ownership or just taking over the Glazers’ 72.3% stake, working alongside Ratcliffe.

This move aligns with the source’s comments: “The goal remains clear, Glazers Out. As everyone already knows, we are ready to clear the debt entirely, build a world-class stadium, remain within PSR rules, and bring world-class players to Manchester United. Redundancies would never even be a consideration.”

Back in December, it was revealed that Jassim was still interested, with another source commenting: “Sheikh Jassim is still a rich guy. He is still a United fan. He is not going to rush off and try another Premier League club.

They continued: “If the opportunity to buy the whole of Manchester United arose again at some point in the future, it is hard to see there not being a big level of interest. The plans are still there.”
