Ruben Amorim will grasp at any positive he can find, during what has so far been a tough spell at Manchester United.

The January transfer window provides an opportunity to make amends.

With United’s financial situation uncertain, major signings are unlikely to happen.

That is, unless a key player is sold.

That makes the need for smart recruitment, even more important.

A former United player has been of interest to the Red Devils, however West Ham have already made an early move for the target.

That player is Angel Gomes, who the Red Devils have been keeping a close eye on.

Interest from United in the former player dates back to early 2024 under Erik ten Hag.

Angel Gomes has spoke about the likelihood of coming back to the Premier League.

According to CaughtOffside’s report, he has been offered a deal by Graham Potter’s West Ham.

Details of the contract haven’t been revealed in the report, other than pre-contract offer being made.

Gomes’ contract expires at the end of the season, but the Hammers have already made a swift move to get the deal done quickly.

There is business to be done, but United will need to move quicker than they have been in order to beat rivals to these deals.

The report also states that Tottenham have held talks for Gomes, further adding to the Premier League interest.

German giants Bayern Munich also see the midfielder as someone who can add quality depth to their squad.

RB Leipzig, Newcastle and Aston Villa among others who also remain keen to sign the England international.

It is believed that the 24-year-old would favour a move to Spurs, however nothing between the player and club has been agreed as of yet.

Spurs are struggling under Ange Postecoglou, but Gomes would very much add some needed quality in the ranks.

There’s a good debate in whether Amorim’s side need him more than Spurs do, however.
