The 2024/25 Premier League season has so far been a mess for Manchester United fans to witness.

Erik ten Hag departing a squad built over £600 million, to the hands of Ruben Amorim has been a harsh task.

United must focus on smart recruitment rather than simply signing big-name players for huge fees.

Amorim’s 3-4-3 system relies heavily on balance across the flanks to function effectively.

The team urgently needs a left-footed player to bring balance and quality at the left wing-back position.

One target who has become well-known to United fans is Patrick Dorgu.

However, United may turn to alternatives with a Crystal Palace star on the shortlist.

United have enquired about Crystal Palace defender Tyrick Mitchell, says ESPN’s Rob Dawson.

United want a left wing-back to strengthen Amorim’s defense before the January window closes.

Mitchell is one of the targets identified as a potential addition to the squad.

United may sell Marcus Rashford and Antony to raise funds for reinforcements.

Their focus is on bolstering the full-back position during the remaining weeks of the window.

Other candidates include Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu and PSG’s Nuno Mendes, though Mendes is unlikely to join.

Mitchell offers significant Premier League experience, making him a strong contender.

The 25-year-old has made 154 top-flight appearances since debuting in the 2019/20 season.

He has contributed three goals and 11 assists throughout his Crystal Palace career.

This season, he has started all 22 league matches under Oliver Glasner and played nearly 2,000 minutes.

Mitchell has provided three assists during his standout performances in this campaign.

It is unclear if United will pursue him further after making their initial enquiry.

Discussions are also ongoing regarding signing Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu as another option.
